Todays post was brought to you by facial hair

I had a profound revelation at 8.31am this morning. Boys have hairy faces. Like, they actually have eons of hair growing out of their face! Eugh! I love my baby-soft facial skin... what if i had yukky hair growing out of it?! Poor boys!
This intrigues me; I'd never really thought about it like this before!

Hey boys, comment and tell me about your facial hair. Do you like it? Is it the bane of your life? How often do you have to shave it? Do you like facial hair in general? Moustaches? Beards? Goatees?
Hey girls, comment and tell me what you think about boy facial hair.
I am intrigued.

Hahahahaha! Oh, I had that same revelation in my 1st year, just imaginging waking up in the morning & having to shave my face cracked me up! It's weird how you just don't think about stuff like that?

There's nothing wrong with stubble, but I reckon there are very few boys in the world that can pull off actual facial hair of any kind. I know a couple, but... ugh. Onehunga.

I like facial hair. I also like its absence. I'm glad I don't have it. Yeah.

i'd just like to say that it is a guy's right to have as much facial hair in whatever form he wants, even if u think it's gross, good on him for enduring the scratchy itchy feel of it(goatees aren't to bad but the full on beard's horible), cause it just happens to be the most wiry thick hair that man can grow.

Also just having had facial hair recently there are some upsides to letting it grow, the main one being not having to shave and getting an extra 5 mins sleep in the morning. It's also good for thinking poses and grossing girls out by rubbing it against them when they hug you. I also got sort of attached to stroking my beard and learnt that i can grow a really dirty mo, hehe some of the guys in my rugby team still know me as the guy that had that porno mo....lol and i only had it for a day.

Dave, that sounds awesome. I shaved off a moustache once, when people started calling it the "molester-stache."

I feel facial hair is good... I can look hairy, or not hairy, and can change my apparent age within about a 5-year range. The itching goes away after a while, and it is fun to play with.

I like the feel of a freshly shaved face. It is cool, but to do it properly requires a wet razor, which just takes up too much time. Though, I have considered going old school with the wet razors, just cos its kinda cool, and apparantly better for your skin. But costly in terms of time.

Then again, I do like the feel of 'haven't shaved for a week' hair. Just when it starts to be softish, but where you still have the option of shaving it, and people won't notice

Hmmm, the mind ponders the response to be given. I like the feel of a smooth face. However, on the flipside I like the feel and look of stubble. I like the five o'clock shadow look. Beyond that it starts to look unkempt (and feels really itchy) until it reaches an appropriate length.

Since I was the Lord of Mutton chops for so long I think I'll stick to the clean shaven look for a while yet. That and I think clean shaven goes with my new appearance a lot better.

Don't worry Michelle, one day when you are an old wrinkly woman, you might be luck enough to have some facial hair of your very own

Yeah, i agree with most the guys here. Facial hair is a mixed bag. Clean shaven feels cool but facial hair feels cool for a while, But is real itchy and starts to feel rank afrter a while. But it does give you are good thinking pose and add years to age. I have never had a mo and i never intend to..i mean just a mo i have had a mo as part of a goatee and an attempt at a full beard. I have also tried the "flavour saver", "the anchor" "the chin fluff" "the chin strap" , "the chin strip"
and "the lamp chops" at various stages. :) But i am content with clean shaven at the moment.

Hairy like a fox! Mainly every other day...

To Nato: I don't think wet razors take any more time. I got an electric one this year, and I reckon it takes just as long and is harder to get a nice shave with. The only good thing about it is that you don't cut yourself and don't have to buy blades. Although I gave in yesterday and bought some anyway. There really is nothing quite like a good wet shave.

Ouch! Nothing wrong with a bit of manly stubble Adam... Also, if grown long enough, your face won't get as cold in winter. :{)= (Unless you shower and get it wet of course) :{p=

um.. yeah, Adam... I think i'd rather have a beard than a kid. At least you can shave a beard off...

Manly stubble is hot... all girls agree on that, right?
And Luuk... i love those wee faces.. they are weirod to the max!

Michelle - about all girls thinking that manly stubble is hot? Well, I think it can be hot sometimes, but generally I prefer clean shaven!! It's hotter! Am I the only one who thinks this?? : )

A comment on facial hair from a recent experimenter -

Plus sides - People have told me that my goatee makes me the splitting image of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Minus Sides - No attributable force powers as a result of facial hair.

To be honest, I don't mind 1 or 2 day stubble, it is just when it has been growing a while and starts to curve back in and touch your face - is when it becomes almost unbearable.

I must say personally I prefer the clean shaven feel - but it doesn't last... (unless you plan on shaving twice a day). My investigations have also determined that it is significantly more effort to retain a shape in facial hair - in a goatee for example, in that you need to make sure you shave the same places every time you do, otherwise you end upw ith weird little stubbly bits around the edges and the whole thing gets gradually smaller and smaller.......

So why do I persue with this endeavour do you ask? Mainly out of curiosity, partially because people have said it looks good on me, and partly because I am too stubborn to admit that it can get blimmin itchy and I would prefer if there were some magical way of remaining amazingly clean-shaven always.

I would much rather have a child than a beard - because beards don't look after you when you are old and senile.

By the way - wet razor is definately worth the extra 30 seconds. Nothing like the fresh feeling of a really good close shave. :)

As one who has experienced the joys of both facial hair and the lack there of I must agree with Mike. The problem with growing facial hair comes about a week in and lasts about a month (although my memory is hazy since it is a long time since I grew facial hair from scratch) with excessive itchiness. However once it exceeds a certain length it loses the itchiness (even after being trimmed back for some reason).

Also the problem I found similar to Mike is that side burns end up growing rather than shrinking. So while they start about level with my mouth they eventually almost reach the jaw. Further to this the problem of keeping them even is also an issue both in each one singularly and level with each other.

Also from my perspective as a guy I quite like the sand-paper feel of my own stubble. When I stroke my chin it sounds cool.

I'll stick with being clean-shaven for a while yet...

I'VE NOTICED HOW MANY OF THE BLOGGERS ARE GUYS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE'S A LOT OF MALE-EGO FLYING AROUND.

I'm happy with male ego as long as it keeps bringing this many comments!!! And this is something i've been pondering, so feedback is always good, heh!

Perhaps the reason there are so many guy bloggers, is that facial hair is more of a guy thing than a girl thing...

As for male ego... yeah. I don't think so.

Well, you could always inflate your ego / the importance of your comment by posting in all-caps. ;)

might as well add my 2 cents: I sort of prefer clean shaven, although goatees etc can look cool. Full beards though are just... ergh. Ask my mum :P Having said that, I have known in the space of my lifetime about 2 blokes who looked absolutely *fantastic* (think Aragorn-like) with 2-3 day old stubble (or was it a week? Am very out of touch with how long it takes to grow stuff :P )- they were the exception rather than the rule tho :D

Aah Nathan... girls have facial hair too... its just that generally they get rid of it all :D

And five star... yeah the snail trail. It is pretty random! I think i'm relatively alone in finding them (generally) attractive?

And oh Christina! Only a few men look attractive with stubble? Oh be still my beating heart!! (lol) But yeah, i think most other facial hair is rank, especially beards and mo's!!
But stubble.... aah stubble...

What I meant was, I've seen lots of guys with stubble. Only a few of them actually looked really good with it ;P
