How did they propose to remedy the situation?
i know about as much as you do (which is hopefully not a lot) so i put..."there are too many clouds around the earth to get a good view" and "they will go to the moon and take pictures from there"
nothing like a litte humour to lighten the markers day.... and it will sweeten them up for the rest of the paper (it only gets worse)

um... im sure they never covered this in class... SURE I SAY!! ive no recollection of the electromagnetic spectrum... (apart from hazy memories of 5th form science)(very hazy at that)... and geez... mapping vegetation using electromagnetic thingeemabobs?

Could the map thing be to do with privacy? NASA isn't allowed to release maps of the earth to the same accuracy as venus.
Or theres the whole 'if you want to know about water, don't ask a fly'

I know sometimes you dont expect the ones you get... like my friend shay being called "king salmon" but within reason, what would you like to be called??
The reason they may have or about to get a better map of the surface of venus than earth is likely due to the lack of water.
Around 70% of the earths surface is covered in water and another big lump of it in Ice. It would seem likely that these interfere with mapping the actual solid surface of the planet. Especially seeing some of the ocean trench's are supposed to be 10km deep. Thats a lot of water for a radar signal to get through and way way more water than an light can get through.
While Venus is just naked no water, no biomass no nothing only rock and metallic snow (apparently).
